The Ultimate Southern Wedding at The City Club

all photos by Bella Rose Photography

It was our privilege to be asked to do
Cake, Floral & Event Design, Directing & Videography
for the wedding of Laura, the sister of our good friend and photographer,
Lisa Brown, who also acted as Maid of Honor,
Wedding Planner, and Stylist for the Bridal Party!
We were one busy team!!!

The reception was held at the historic mansion, City Club at de Rosset.

The reception was filled with tablescapes and mantle arrangements
created with lush champagne garden roses,
light pink Aphrodite garden roses,
white anemones, cream & blush roses, cream & pink spray roses,
light pink larkspur, white snapdragons,
white ranunculus, white freesia, and pink French tulips
arranged in mercury glass vases,
and accented with crystal candelabras,
birdcage candle holders and porcelain bird vases.

The Bridal flowers were created with champagne garden roses,
light pink Aphrodite garden roses, white anemones with black centers,
cream and blush roses, white ranunculus, white freesia,
and pink French tulips!

The wedding ceremony was held at Kenan Chapel of Landfall.

The reception was held at City Club at de Rosset
in Historic Downtown Wilmington.

We created the wedding cake with a
large sugarpaste rose with large flowing petals
to compliment the Bride's silk rose head piece.

The cake, frosted in Italian buttercream,
was sprayed in edible gold luster dust.

...BUT the day before...

...our home/office was filled with 1200 stems of flowers!

Some arrangements were so large, only the
outdoors would do for designing them...

and some arrangements were as tall as our Divette, Eve!!!

Things get really busy in "Divadom" but we always take time
to stop and smell the roses!!!

Now onto Paris...

Milliner extraordinaire, Jan of "aMuse," asked us to be a part of her annual "Haute Hat Show."
The theme of the event, held at venue 128 South, Wilmington, NC, was
 "Spring in Paris!"

The Divas created a cake to compliment the "Spring in Paris" event theme,
topping it with this royal icing Eiffel Tower,
and the sugar paste designer hat, inspired by one of Jan's flower creations.

"Team Divas" were also asked to do a video montage of  the
"2011 Spring in Paris Haute Hat Show!"

We LOVE our job!!!...

...and we love the teams we work with!!!
Lisa of Bella Rose Photography, Deborah (Diva #1),
"Style Girl" Jess James, Rebekah (Diva #2),
Jennifer (Diva #3), &
woman of the hour, Jan of "aMuse Artisanal Finery"!!!

During the event, someone decided that Jennifer also needed to wear a hat,
and selected this magnificent creation for her by milliner Andre' M Baxter.

Then Andre' surprised Jennifer by giving her his beautiful "Fascinator,"
in exchange for cake!!! ;)

The art of creating a royal icing design!!!

The Three Divas cake designs usually begin in the imagination of Diva #1 (Deborah), and sometimes that happens in the middle of the night!!!
Yes, she dreams event design!!!
Next, she translates that dream onto architectural paper...

Then Diva #1 puts her head together with Diva #3 (Jennifer)
on how to bring the design dream into reality!!!

For the Bellamy event, The Divas wanted to top the Moroccan cake with an LED lit royal icing lantern!!!
So "Team Divas" figured out a way to do it by designing it on wax paper placed directly on top of one of the event design lanterns!!!

It was Jennifer, as a child, who loved tiny detail work!!!
Who knew that the art of coloring and the shaping of  Playdough would be the foundation of training for an art form that would become a business!!!
