A Beautiful Bejeweled Bald Head Island Wedding - Part II

October is the perfect month for a wedding
on Bald Head Island,
and this day could not have been more beautiful
for Megan & Anthony's celebration!

~~~~~~~~~
And the fun begins with hair and make up!!!
The bejeweled Bride and her Bridesmaids looked picture perfect!
Our Bride, Megan, and MOB, Susan,
had spent months collecting gorgeous vintage brooches!
We included them in the bridal and bridesmaid's bouquets
along with pink peony garden roses, ivory roses, pink spray roses,
  ivory ranunculus, antique hydrangeas, and dusty miller.
WEDDING CEREMONY
The wedding ceremony was held at The Village Chapel
Because we wanted to enhance the Chapel's spectacular view,
and not block it,
we chose to create a diaphanous altar arrangement
of ivory roses, pink snapdragons, antique hydrangeas,
Queen Anne's lace, and green amaranthus.
On this secluded little island, cars are not allowed,
so a fun part of the wedding celebration
was the Bride & Groom's ride from the Village Chapel
to the reception site via "Rolls Royce" golf cart!
We decorated this very special get away car
with a wreath of ivory roses, pink spray roses and lemon leaves.
WEDDING RECEPTION
The Wedding Reception was held
at The Bald Head Island Country Club.
"Love is the master key which opens
the gate of happiness."
Oliver Wendell Holmes
For the wedding reception event design, it was all about
the keys to love - plus sparkle & bling!!!
For Megan & Anthony's wedding cake,
to compliment the event design, we created royal icing brooches.
And along with ivory and pink roses,
we applied the brooches to their chocolate & vanilla wedding cake
that had raspberry filling, and was
 frosted in our signature Amaretto Italian Buttercream.
~~~
We had such a great time with this family!!!
Planning started months before...and we had so much fun
preparing with them!!!

A Beautiful Bejeweled Bald Head Island Wedding - Part I

photo by Chris Lang Photography

We were thrilled when Megan, a Bride-to-Be with lots of wonderful ideas,
and Susan, a spunky & very organized "MOB," contacted us for
Megan & Anthony's destination wedding!

Because of the location,
we realized there would be
some challenges doing the
Floral & Event Designs, Cakes, & Videography,
since Megan & Anthony were planning an entire Week of Celebrations
to be held on Bald Head Island
- and we were soooo up for it!!!

Bald Head Island, the perfect location for Megan & Anthony's
dream destination wedding, is a small, picturesque island accessible only by ferry from the nearby town of Southport, NC.  The focal point of this small island is "Old Baldy," an out-of-service lighthouse built in 1817.

Eight months before the wedding, Megan, Susan and we Divas
boarded the ferry for BHI and a full day of reconnaissance!!!

No cars allowed on the island.
Golf carts are the  mode of transportation!!!

The Village Chapel,
designed in keeping with nineteenth-century Carolina coastal architecture, is picture perfect for their wedding ceremony!!!

The perfect place for the rehearsal luncheon - The Shoals Club
- check!!!

The perfect location for the reception - The Bald Head Island Club - check!!!

The perfect Villas for friends & family (& Divas!)
to stay for the week - check!!!

Working along side this dynamic duo,
we knew this was going to be fun!!!

~~~~~~~
...the months flew by and we were back again for
THE WEDDING WEEK OF WOW!!!
All of the
flowers, event design details, and cakes
for the week of events,
had to be brought over on the ferry
and transported via golf cart!!!
When we unloaded at our Villa,
Megan and Susan had treated us to gift bags they had made for all their family and guests!!!
We got everything unpacked & organized
...and we were off & running!!!...
Rebekah went right to work filming beautiful "B-roll"
for the Wedding Week Video!!!
Filming here is a thrill
since this island is filled with such beauty
 - it is magical!!!
THE BRIDAL LUNCHEON
The Bridal Luncheon was held at the Bald Head Island Club.
And since Megan has such an eye for detail,
we wanted to wow her with a beautiful tablescape
to compliment the vintage tea cups she gave each of her "favorite ladies."
~~~~~~

WELCOME DINNER!!!

Megan & Anthony started things off with a bang -
             a Welcome Dinner at Mojo's!!!...

...and since the Bride & Groom, and most of the wedding party,
are part of the "Gator Nation," ie, graduates of the University of Florida,
they asked us to do our
Chocolate Praline Ganache Cake
with a fondant cut out of  Albert, the Gators beloved mascot!!!

THE REHEARSAL LUNCHEON

The Rehearsal Luncheon was held at the Shoals Club.

For these tablescapes, we wanted to compliment the beauty of the ocean
that surrounds the club on three sides!
The flowers we used were green fuji mums, white alstromeria,
and both pink & green dendrobium orchids,
arranged in glass vases with lily grass
and set among hurricane globes and decorative sea shells.

Megan asked us to do a Groom's Cake that reflected
Anthony's love of shark fishing!

We thought it was only fitting that we have his Bride
join him in his hobby!!!
